Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2015 Verified Purchase This collection is one of the most important primary texts that informs Arthurian lore. The translation feels more contemporary but doesn't sacrifice essential material that makes the original text so important to Arthurian studies. One also gets very unique judgments of round table figures. Chretien's account of Lancelot is probably the most damning retelling of Arthur's most famous knight's fall from his king's favor. The book is worth it for the chronicling of the Lancelot/Guinevere episode, perhaps the most intricate detailing and morally focussed interpretation of the legend, whose judgmental tone continues to inform new incarnations of the affair portion of Arthurian mythos. In addition to the important Lancelot story, Chretien's stories provide a very lucid glimpse of both artistic and broadly cultural views of these staple romances, along with a crucial view into the changing nature of written accounts of legendary material that was in flux soon after the tales were put to paper.

Some time ago I found a list of nicknames of the players/creators? in magic over at another site (I think it was /tg/). It caught my interest so I saved it.
This follows Slasher's response to Thorin, "Calling people fa****ts in video games doesn't make explicitly make you homophobe, but it definitely makes you sound like an immature child edgelord who has nothing else to say. And it's still homophobic. Defending this is absurd. Don't be an asshole. " and that "This rhetoric coming from an industry professional makes all of esports look bad". Obviously Thorin has a checkered past in terms of "political correctness" in esports.

In Duo Standard, players will submit two Standard-legal decks. Players will not sideboard between games, though they may submit a sideboard (for cards such as Mastermind's Acquisition). Players can submit two different decks, two decks of the same archetype with different cards in both, or the exact same deck twice. Match play will take place using both of each players' submitted decks. Matches will be conducted as follows: Game 1 – The deck each player uses and who goes first will be randomized. Game 2 – Players will use the deck unused in Game 1, and the player who went second in Game 1 will go first. Game 3 (if necessary) – Each player chooses which of their two decks to play and the player who goes first is determined at random. So someone could cash in 2005, never play again until 2010, cash there and have a streak of 2 consecutive.
Pro Tour Oath of the Gatewatch starts on Friday. For fun, I decided to forecast the event. The first step was to estimate the strength of the participants. To do so, I collected match results from the swiss portions of previous individual Pro Tours (PTs) and old-style World Championships starting in 2006 from I did a bit of work to make sure that results were included appropriately, for example by standardizing the huge number of names used for Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa's match results. Then, I calculated Elo ratings with calibrated K values to estimate the strength of each player in Limited and Constructed. The K values determine how much individual matches affect a player's rating, and I chose K values for Limited and Constructed so that Elo's predictions match past results as closely as possible. More information can be found at this link. I'm happy to answer any questions about this process in the comments. For reference, here's a link to the Wikipedia entry on Elo ratings at this link.
International Game Series News At IGS the final touches are being worked on before Warriors of Japan goes out the door. If you're a fan of Warriors of God, you'll find much of the same here. It is more thoughtful and less random but, after 15 minutes of a rules review, any veteran of Warriors of God will feel right at home. And speaking of Warriors of God, stay tuned for some special news in the near future. GTS Update For our Grand Tactical Series (GTS), work continues on a number of fronts. GTS: Crete is being updated to the v2. 0 rules, and should be going on preorder shortly (see more below). Utah will be the next installment of GTS: The Greatest Day, which should be similar in size and number of scenarios as in GTS: Sword, Juno, and Gold. With an emphasis on the Airborne, however, this game has a very different feel from the great tank battles you see in GTS:SJG. Other GTS games on the drawing board are coming as well; some larger and some smaller. Watch for announcements on when to expect these shortly.
